Exhibitions in China

China takes a leading position in the number of international exhibitions and conferences, where exhibitors and participants from all around the world traditionally gather. Exhibitions are mostly held in the largest cities of China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Yiwu, Ningbo, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.

The choice of a city for an exhibition or conference may also depend on the subject. In particular, most tourism segment events are held in Beijing and Shanghai. Events on consumer goods, furniture and accessories, clothing, children's goods (toys) reside in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Electronics, IT, finance and commerce events are held in Hong Kong.

CANTON FAIR is the largest and world-famous exhibition of export/import goods in Guangzhou. It was first held in 1957, and since then has been held twice a year – in spring (April 15 to May 5) and fall (October 15 to November 4). Each spring and fall session is divided into three stages, each dedicated to its own categories of goods:

Stage 1. Subjects:

Various electronics, lighting equipment, transport vehicles and spares for them, construction and farming machinery, manufacturing equipment, hardware, tools, construction and decorative materials, plumbing, chemicals and new energy sources.

Stage 2. Subjects:

Ceramics, household items, kitchen utensils and cutlery, personal care products, toiletries, pet products, watches, gifts, toys, furniture, garden products, glass dishes, home decoration materials, sauna decoration materials, rattan and iron products.

Stage 3. Subjects:

Clothing for women, men and children, underwear, sportswear, fur and leather products, home textiles, accessories, fabrics, carpets, shoes, cases and bags, office supplies, sports, leisure and travel goods, medicines, medical equipment and food.

Exhibiting in China

SIAL CHINA is the largest food exhibition; it is dedicated to food, but may also be interesting for the wine business. It is held every year from May 13 to 15 in Shanghai.

Main subjects: food, seafood, confectionery, baby food, gastronomy, restaurants and catering, trade and franchising.

ITB CHINA is the largest tourism exhibition with exhibitors representing the tourism industry worldwide. It may be especially interesting for tourism companies to attract traffic from China. It is held every year from May 13 to 15 in Shanghai.

Main subjects: traveling products and services, tourist operators and agencies, youth/eco/sports tourism.

BITE BEIJING is a tourism exhibition with a focus on export and import tourism. The event also represents exhibitors from the Chinese provinces. It is held every year from June 18 to 20 in Beijing.

CHINA INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY EXPO is the largest cosmetics exhibition in China representing domestic Chinese exhibitors. It is held four times a year:

  • March 10 to 12 in Guangzhou

  • May 6 to 8 in Shanghai

  • July 29 to 31 in Beijing

  • September 5 to 7 in Guangzhou

CHINAJOY is the Asia's largest gaming exhibition dedicated to computer games and digital entertainment. It is held every year from August 2 to 5 in Shanghai.

Main subjects: computer games, console and PC games, video and online games.
